The Waller Family
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009The Waller family is a lovely local family. They contacted me seeking a multi-generational portrait for their parents, recently married 50 years! We had a great time at their parents home on Lake Lanier, taking not just the large group portraits but all the smaller group break-outs as well. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with their entire family & hope you enjoy meeting them!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009Cameron is 1 year old!
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009Cameron brought his parents to my studio on Sunday afternoon to play in celebration of his recent first birthday! I absolutely cannot believe this little guy is already 1!
We had a great time…it seems he learned how to walk quite well some time over the holidays so by now Mr. Cameron was nearly running! He was very pleased to show off his new-found skills for me in between shots. Such a funny and happy little guy!

Monday, March 9th, 2009Birth without fear.
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009In addition to portraiture, I also do birth photography. I do quite a bit of it as a doula, of course, but I also do it outside of my doula work from time to time.
Last weekend, the day before the now legendary snowstorm of March 2009, I was invited to document the birth of a dear friend of mine. It was her third child, second daughter and special for reasons beyond the obvious. Julie’s mother, Teresa Howard, delivered Julie’s daughter up into her hands. The large photo below captures the instant Julie is pulling her up into her arms from inside her body-and the joy that instant brought her. In the background, Julie’s eldest child is present and watching as her baby sister entered the world. Her words were nothing short of breathtaking that day…she said her mother was giving the world a brand new person, and later, she told her little brother on the phone that one day she too would do what her mother had just done.
What an amazing, inspiring and empowering day that was for all of us in the room. I was and remain humbled and honored to have been invited to attend. It was my sincere pleasure to be able to document the occasion for their family.
My birth photography, by it’s nature, is documentary-style. It is not portraiture. The photos are raw, real and maybe not technically perfect. They allow you to experience the moment at it’s essence and evoke powerful emotions.
I hope you enjoy the rare treat in this powerful series of images. Julie’s birth is an example to us all of what birth can be when approached with joy and humor in place of fear.
A sweet New Year’s gift…Audrey, 6 weeks.
Sunday, February 22nd, 2009Katelyn…the 1 year old CAKE SMASHING princess!
Saturday, January 3rd, 2009I absolutely love watching my client’s grow. I have shot Katelyn quite literally since her birth. She was 1 year old the day after Christmas and today, her parents brought her to my studio for her 1 year session. We had a smashingly good time (just go with my silly humor, ok?
) and Miss Katelyn enjoyed some cake as a side bonus.

Stepping in front of the camera…Julie Moon Photography of Athens, GA. Merry Christmas everyone!
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008Now that our fall holiday season has finally (finally?) slowed down, my friend Julie Moon of Julie Moon Photography/ Athens, GA and I spent the day together yesterday. We share tips and tricks and generally all manner of shop talk on a regular basis and soon, I’ll be shooting her maternity, birth and newborn portraits for her third child.
She drove over yesterday morning in the bitter cold to spend the day in my office talking shop. Afterwards, we got in a little camera play…what else would two photographers do with one another in their spare time? Right? Anyways…I was in need of a current headshot-ish image for an upcoming conference in which I am speaking, as well as for my own site usage. It’s been a while.
We took an hour and hung out in Vickery Village in south Forsyth, here in Cumming. The weather was bitterly cold, dropping a full 9 degrees in the hour we were there, but we had a great time. What a shock it is to be on the OTHER side of the lens for a change. I certainly got a taste of my own medicine yesterday
How fun!! I am so pleased with her work. I hope you enjoy a giggle as you take a look at what she did for me yesterday afternoon.
